An Elder's Advice
I would like to thank our esteemed elder Neil Reville, for taking the time to pen some advice for the club. For those that don't know Neil, he joined the club in 1957.
Have members commit to delivering technical topics (but give them a month or two in advance). Members will be expected to learn a specific topic and deliver the most crucial info in that topic within a 30 minute session. To be fair, we should share out these sessions amongst experienced members so that they are not all falling on one or two people. Topics would include: Correct exposure; Frame rates; ISO; Colour temperature; F stops; depth of field; audio. AI, phone cameras, osmo etc.
Review equipment. We could make some more purchases of equipment (with careful consideration). Our biggest issue is storage space as the cupboard allocated to us is too small. Maybe some things in this cupboard need to go?
Connect with local acting schools to help them establish showreels. Connections will give us a pool of actors for productions.
Seek government funding throught grants to buy more equipment. I see two issues with this: Firstly it takes time to put a grant together and who is going to volunteer to do it?; Secondly, we have a space issue (as mentioned).
Neil, thankyou for your time and ideas. As we have a newly elected president, it is time for the committee to get together and discuss these and other ideas.
